Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular model has telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The additional advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular model is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and can maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
