Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names like: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
Like what the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they transport loads. The Rider model however, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly fast and maneuverable.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and therefore, it is not recommended to move unstable or tall loads using these machinery. A rider could be the right answer if you are looking for an inexpensive way of moving cargo from one location to another. If though, you should transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the best option.
Order Selector
The order selector or order picker is a piece machinery made specially for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Usually, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle which could work in smaller aisles. They are really useful pieces of machine in cycle counting situations as well as in physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models that range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
