Narrow aisle forklifts
Narrow aisle forklifts are generally used in warehousing applications. These forklifts are important equipments within the industry since their small size and excellent maneuverability enable warehouses to make the most of storing space. They can easily pass aisles which are 1.8 meters wide, whereas standard lift trucks need at least 3.4 meters of aisle width.
The two kinds are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, while the second can function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design includes forks positioned at right angles to the truck body. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
To make certain that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, some very narrow aisle forklifts include optical or wire systems. That way, the operator can concentrate more on the placement and the picking of loads.
The cushion tires that come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on smooth, paved surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors that is best utilized within indoor places. Propane-powered models are available as well.
