There are a range of different means that lower or raise lifts on a forklift: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. Scissor lifts use crisscrossed folding supports with a screw mechanism utilized to draw the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, which is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the load. The telescoping lift mechanism is made with many parts which retract and extend into and out of each other to attain lifting action. Screw lifts use threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a system that involves many parts that articulate or unfold. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
In material handling processes, there can be lots of reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling methods and the machinery can be used to handle increased geographical coverage, additional SKUs, and the requirement to lower inventories. Machinery that are well ahead of the technological curve can help productivity maximization and increase effectiveness.
Lift truck Battery & Charging Technology
The decision to convert from conventional, internal combustion forklifts to electric forklifts is a smart one as the newest series of electric lift trucks provide higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before. Battery and charger combinations are providing more power for much longer periods than older systems were capable of achieving. Improvements in charger and battery technologies are not only making electric forklifts more productive but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
The electric powered machines utilize Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show remarkable promise, although this technology is still somewhat new. They are not just smaller but are capable of holding up to six times the charge of traditional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance needs and can maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
