Forklift Tire Specs
Ever since 1917, important tools used in industry and commercial businesses are forklifts. Throughout its history the forklift has evolved through various kinds, from a basic tractor with a platform attachment to a particular high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with different kinds designed to suit specific applications.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is suitable for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is pressed or binded onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated for different load capacities and for ease of steering. Cushion tires are usually used within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two kinds: radial or bias. Depending on the application, they are available with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires which are filled with foam are less susceptible to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are normally utilized outdoors on surfaces that are uneven and rough.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire with the puncture resistance of a solid tire. They are a great alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, which could be solid, pneumatic or foam, are used on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are suitable for loading and moving heavy things into processing equipment or onto trucks. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly utilized at lumberyards, construction sites and auto recyclers.
